If there would be one New Year Resolution I am going to have a hard time achieving this 2010, It would be going vegetarian. I was born a carnivore. I even bit my mother's areola in excitement and hunger way way back when I was still a newborn.
Yesterday I can't help but eat a cheeseburger from Mc Donalds. And yes, I threw away the tomatoes that comes with it.
People worldwide have been going green because of the health benefits this lifestyle brings into our well-being. PeTA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (http://www.peta.org/) have been very active in promoting "going green not only because of the health benefits we get from it but in lieu with their mission of protecting animal rights. Actually this 2010, the organization has been encouraging people worlwide to "Pledge to be Vegan in 2010" ( https://secure.peta.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=2517 ). Interested parties and individuals may click the link.
But PeTA "an organization no stranger to controversy" (quoted from yahoo news ) is on the hot seat again. This time because of using an image of no other than the First Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama in an anti-fur advertisement without the First Lady's knowledge and permission. Peta says it has no plans to remove the posters. "We haven't asked the White House to fund or promote the campaign, as they can't do such things, but the fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn't wear fur, and the world should know that in Peta's eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous," the organisation's president, Ingrid Newkirk, said.( Quoted from www.guardian.co.uk ) (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/06/peta-anti-fur-michelle-obama )
I guess going Vegan is not as simple as I thought it was. Well I have a year to try. So help me God.
